Review: Elf Killers by Carol Marrs Phipps/Tom Phipps

Elf KillersElf Killers by Carol Marrs Phipps
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hold onto your chair while reading this! Set in another place, elves and trolls are pitted against each other, and the action is non-stop. Add into the mix killer birds and harsh conditions, and every breath becomes a test in survival. Not for the fainthearted! Kids die horribly, and amid the trolls jockeying for leadership is trial by head bashing.

And yet, amid the carnage, there is beauty. Graceful unicorns, magnificent forests and mighty mountains gift this tale the reason for survival, as does love and friendship. Never surrender to what seems inevitable is the overriding message, in my opinion. Elf Killers is about death … and life. Seriously imaginative (especially troll-speak!) and gritty in action and battle, this is worth a read … but be prepared! Oh, be prepared. I dare you to grab a copy!

Review: Hotsuka's Story by J.F. Mehentee

Hotsuka's Story (The Dragon Pearl, #1)Hotsuka's Story by J.F. Mehentee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily and honestly review this book.

This tale just got better and better the further in I went. Initially I wondered, but I ended up thoroughly enjoying the entire read. Hotsuka’s story is a complicated one, and yet endearing. The more he discovered himself, the more I identified with his journey. This is a grand weave of a tale and, having finished, I now understand there is so much more to come, and understand too why I needed to journey with Hotsuka through cowardice to knowledge of self. Highly recommended to readers who enjoy both depth and complication.

Review: Shadows Wake by Aiki Flinthart

Shadows WakeShadows Wake by Aiki Flinthart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely devoured this! The author has the uncanny ability to instantly draw you in, keep you intrigued, and then to surprise you as soon as you think you know what’s going on. Great action is interspersed with soul searching, while the pace is swift and utterly believable (despite the unbelievable in this story!).

I love Rowan and can’t wait to find out what happens for her next (yup, I’m now hooked into this series), and as for Logan … oh my. I won’t say more, but suggest you grab your copy of Shadows Wake right now! Well done to the author; as ever, she delivers another great tale.

From the start, I knew there was something 'off' ... and of course that meant I scared the bejeezus out of myself in reading on! Had to find out the why, where, what and how! Absolutely scary, very clever and with a few twists that will have you breathless with anticipation.

Absolutely worth reading - grab a copy NOW

Review: Sinnergog Part 2 (Darkroom Series) by Poppet

SINNERGOG - Darkroom Saga Book 6 Part 2SINNERGOG - Darkroom Saga Book 6 Part 2 by Poppet
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been looking forward to reading this for a while, but life got in the way. I tell you, though, this is definitely worth the wait! If you have it waiting on your kindle somewhere, go on and open it and start reading now. It’s Victor’s turn to shine, and as I’ve read EVERY book in this series, I wanted to know, NEEDED to know how Victor stands up to his father. Epic confrontation! Blood and mayhem!

Without giving anything away, let me just say this: there’s a twist to this tale I did not see coming. Nope, did not expect it; even now, at the end of a great dark series, the author ends up surprising the reader, and I lapped it up. Does Victor win? Maybe losing is winning … and I’m not saying a word more.

LOVED THE ENTIRE SERIES!

Review: Sweet Psychic - Part 3

LOVED this part of the Micki story! This episode in Mick’s tribulations amps it up a notch, for Aladrac is not what everyone believes him to be. I’m not going to spoil I for you, but this dude is something else, and I kept wondering when he would reveal his true self.

Micki has Grant and a host of protectors. She’s survived the Grimwlads. Despite all, this lady has guts and she’s also a genuinely compassionate spirit. Just when she thinks it’s over, Aladrac nabs her. Not saying more – read for yourself!

This part of the Grimwald saga left me speechless, and kept me turning the pages. Here is betrayal, and Micki isn’t made for betrayal. I wondered how she would deal with it … and Bam! She does the very last thing I expected. A page turner, and, boy, this Grimwald is quite the surprise.

I can’t wait to find out what happens next! If you haven’t read book 1, grab it now, then read this, and I know you will agree that you simply have to find out what happens next. An enjoyable adventure into an underworld of secrets and lies!

Review: Sweet Psychic:Part 1

Sweet Psychic: Part 1Sweet Psychic: Part 1 by Poppet
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The first thing that struck me about this book was the circle of friends. Despite every horror, the friends were there for each other, and I found that so inspiring. Now add to that absolutely sexy detectives, and a house with some awesome secrets, and season it all with major insights, and you have a story that will keep you turning the pages. The Grinwald brothers are downright evil, but Micki is filled with light – indeed, expect major and horrifying situations as evil attempts to snuff the light.

Thoroughly enjoyable!
